Integrated Barcoding Systems introduces QuikTrac®5.0
New Software Solution Extends I Series Applications to the Warehouse or Shop Floor Without Any Host Modifications

Adrian, Michigan - Integrated Barcoding Systems (IBS), a leading solutions provider of data collection technology and services, today announced the release of QuikTrac® 5.0. The new screen integration tool allows I Series users to extend their ERP/MRP applications out to their warehouse or shop floor without modifications to their existing host code or interfacing into their system’s database.

QuikTrac® 5.0 allows AS 400 users to take their existing I Series applications and map them down to a wireless fixed or portable data collection device. This functionality enables users to interact with their ERP/MRP software from a remote location in real-time, without costly and long-term modifications to the host. QuikTrac® 5.0’s new Off Line Data Collection module allows users to continue to collect and store data while the connection or host is down.

The QuikTrac® 5.0 software suite consists of the following modules:

  • I Series Development Module - allows users to take their I Series screens and map them to a number of portable data collection devices including LAN and WAN devices. The Development module takes the best of QuikTrac® 5.0 and adds new features like Searching, Scrolling, SQL interface for non I Series screens or applications, and Grouping of users on a project. It allows users to add functionality to their applications without writing additional code. This enables users to cost-effectively customize and modify their applications without incurring unnecessary programming fees.

  • I Series Interface - is a server application that controls the communication between the I Series and the scanning devices. Within the I Series interface is the new SQL interface that allows users to go outside of the I Series application and call, perform, create a calculation or interface with an ODBC compliant database without creating custom RPG programs.

  • QuikTrac® Manager - allows users to control, setup, monitor, and maintain their data collection projects from any remote location. The QuikTrac® 5.0 Manager gives users an additional level of security over and above their existing I Series applications. Its built-in functionality enables users to control user sign ins and which group or class they are assigned to, which project users can work with the system as well as limit the menu options authorized users are able to see.

  • QuikTrac® Off Line Module - allows users to collect and store data while the connection or host is down. When the connection or the host becomes available, the data is then sent up to the host and processed. All of the processing can be done manually or thru automatic interfacing with the host so there is no human input required.
Integrated Barcoding Systems data collection solutions are designed to provide users of ERP and MRP systems with the fastest, simplest and most cost-effective tools to automate their data collection process. QuikTrac® has successful installations into MAPICS, BPCS, J.D. Edwards, PRMS, JobScope, System 21, CMS, and AS/400 legacy systems. Integrated Barcoding Systems is headquartered at 1801 West US 223, Suite 115, Adrian, MI 49221.

Integrated Barcoding Systems help Meridian Automotive role three ERP solutions into one.
Meridian Automotive Systems, a tier one automotive supplier in Grand Rapids Michigan has chosen Integrated Barcoding Systems QuikTrac® 5.0 Suite to help them integrate their three I Series data collection applications into Mapics.

Meridian Automotive had recently completed acquisition of two automotive suppliers and was in the process of moving them all over to Mapics on the I Series over the next few years. What they needed to be was be able to get their data collection and shipping information to be able to talk with Mapics, BPCS, and Brain shipping and receiving.

QuikTrac® 5.0 was able to take all three I Series ERP solutions and bring them under one data collection solution without any custom code or special programming. “QuikTrac® has allowed us to integrate our three solutions without any programming” said Bruce Knoll of Meridian Automotive. “Without QuikTrac®, we would have had to maintain multiple systems and it would have created a support nightmare maintaining them while we were upgrading our plants to Mapics.”

Meridian Automotive systems plans to continue to add plants to the QuikTrac® system to the point that the QuikTrac® 5.0 server will be running all 34 of their plants.

Integrated Barcoding Systems wins Paccar Winch Contract
Paccar Winch of Broken Arrow, OK has chosen Integrated Barcoding Systems as their vendor to integrate with their existing I Series home grown application. Paccar Winch, a division of the Braden Corporation, manufacture industrial winches for industrial use on bulldozers, utility trucks and other industrial vehicles in construction.

Paccar Winch was looking for a way to replace their existing batch data collection system and integrate it with their I Series application. “We needed a fast and simple way to take our existing screens out to where the data collection was taken place” Said Rick Gilbert, IS director at Paccar. “I looked at QuikTrac® 5.0 from Integrated Barcoding Systems and knew that we could get this up and running within a few weeks without any special programming.”

Integrated Barcoding Systems implemented their QuikTrac® 5.0 suite of data collection along with ten Intermec 2435 terminals at Broken Arrow. “We were able to go onsite and give Rick and his team a live demo to their host and show them how fast and simple it would be to extend their I Series screens using the QuikTrac® 5.0 product.” said Andy Jacobs, President of Integrated Barcoding Systems. “Being able to map their transactions while they watched showed how simple it would be for Paccar to take over the project and maintain it once we were done with the training.

The benefit of using the QuikTrac® 5.0 system along with Intermec hardware reduces the time lag between when data is collected on the floor and when it was being uploaded later in the day. We are now able to track our inventory and production immediately. We have reduced the amount of time our supervisors were spending looking for production products and reviewing employee time cards.

Integrated Barcoding Systems wins Label supply contract for Mallinckrodt Pharmacies nationwide.

June 10, 2002
Integrated Barcoding Systems is pleased to announce that it has secured the nationwide contract to supply Mallinckrodt medical pharmacies with label and ribbons supplies for all of their pharmacies nationwide.

Mallinckrodt, a supplier of medical drugs to hospitals nationwide needed a simple way to keep everyone of their 42 pharmacies with label and ribbons. Each of their pharmacies needed to keep their own supply of labels and ribbons, but no pharmacy had a place that they could purchase their supplies from.

“Every pharmacy was doing their own thing until we were able to standardize on one supplier with the right label” said Wayne Snyder of Mallinckrodt. “ If a pharmacy ever runs out of labels and ribbons, they are shut down.

Integrated Barcoding Systems put together a plan that includes a blanket order of label kits, which each pharmacy can order from. Integrated Barcoding Systems keeps an ongoing supply of label kits on hand to fulfill all orders that are place. “Making sure that Mallinckrodt will never be without labels is the most important job,” said Andy Jacobs.

Mallinckrodt is now able to standardize on one label and one supplier. Not having to worry about ordering labels and ribbons will save Mallinckrodt pharmacies hours and free up needed storage space.

JD Edwards QuikTrac® Solution Installed in Two Days!!!!
Louis Rey of Intermec and Andy Jacobs of Integrated Barcoding Systems have teamed up to bring an RF data collection solution to United Aerospace.

United Aerospace wanted a quick and simple data collection solution for their JD Edwards WorldSoftware. After reviewing the larger JD Edwards data collection solutions for inventory and receiving, they were discouraged by the high quoted costs and long implementation times.

Louis and Andy presented a QuikTrac® /Intermec solution that would have them up and running within 2 days at a fraction of the cost of the larger solutions. United Aerospace can now accurately capture their data and add to their existing system without changes to the host or long delays.

Andy Jacobs of Integrated Barcoding Systems and Kent Schnieder of Intermec Chicago have teamed up to provide BorgWarner Automotive with a quick and simple way to extend their BPCS data collection out to the receiving and shipping departments. Because QuikTrac® is so easy to use, it allows customers to maintain control of their system without undue strain on their staff. BorgWarner has purchased a copy of the QuikTrac® Development Module so they can add additional transactions as they grow.
